Bracelet For My Little Black Dress

While I was perusing what's on sale at Michael's this week, I spotted a gorgeous pendant/brooch.  But I don't wear brooches, and for this much bling, it's probably a special occasion, which means my husband will ask me with those puppy dog eyes, "Aren't you going to wear the jewelry I bought you as a wedding gift?"  Don't get me wrong, he got me a beautiful necklace and earring set.  But it doesn't allow for much variety when you have just one special, sentimental set.  And how can you explain this to a man?

Anyway - to avoid any and all gift-related arguments, what I get for my variety fix are bracelets.  I just love them!  So I decided it could certainly be converted to a bracelet, and the result is definitely Little-Black-Dress-worthy (not that I get to wear mine all that often, but I could see this as an any-night-out piece too).

Fun, right?

This is another one of those projects that's so easy, I feel like I can hardly call it a "tutorial".  But I'll show you how I did it anyway. :)

I started off with these two pieces, both 30% off this week at Michael's.  (Woohoo!)

You have to remove all the hardware from the back of the brooch.  So raid your real toolbox (or your husband's, if that's the way it is in your household) for a pair of wire cutters and cut off the bails and the pin.  Make sure they don't go flying, they have a tendency to.

Put some E6000 (or whatever heavy-duty permanent adhesive you like to use) on the blank of the cuff.

And position your flower however you like.  You may need to add a little more adhesive - make sure that there's a good connection between the flower and the blank.

Now just set it aside and let it cure for several hours.  I turned mine upside-down for this, so that it wouldn't slide around, and would dry straight.

And that's it!  Once it cured, I admired it... (and I'm sorry, you cannot photograph your own wrist without it being all awkward, LOL!)

...and told my husband we need a decent date night, stat.  So, anyone want to babysit?? ;)

I link up to these great parties!

  2. So cute. (Be really careful with that glue--it is banned in CA because it causes cancer. Had a friend who used it all the time-died.)

I came over from the Linky Follower blog hop. I hope you will come over and follow me as well.

    1. Thanks for the warning, Cheri. I tried the E6000 recently, and I couldn't stand the fumes. I'll stop using altogether. Thanks again!

  3. Oh I love this. I know what you mean about the jewelry. My husband bought me a really nice pair of earrings and now I feel like I have to wear them whenever we go out. As you said, they're gorgeous, but a gal wants to change things up. So I do what you do and change up something else. Nice tutorial.

  6. That is beautiful! You make it look so easy to create/combine together. I would end up gluing my fingers together or to the table...or try it on to early and it's permanently adhered to my arm. But that is just my problem.

    I'm following you on G+.
